Founder’s Bio

Barb - 300x300While teaching a class at Nashua Community College, I gave my students a “kindness assignment” and had amazing results! The tremendous response to this project made me want to take this assignment beyond my own classroom. I have developed ideas for enhancing the anti-bullying movement by providing this blog as a free resource for teachers and community organizers. Together, by promoting kindness, we can take a positive step and move towards what everyone wants which is a safe and enjoyable environment for all students.

As a health care practitioner, I treat clients in my office and at the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts.  I feel fortunate that I have been able to observe the long lasting impact that a small act of kindness can bring.

The Sequin Of Kindness has a proactive approach to ending the bullying epidemic — Kindness Prevents Bullying. My mission is to introduce the blog into classrooms of all grade levels and community organizations.

As the administrator of the blog, I post all the stories; schools and individuals are able to keep their information confidential. There are NO FEES to use the blog. I look forward to the possibility of bringing this blossoming project to your school and/or community. Please feel free to email me at barb@sequinofkindness.org with any questions.

Kind regards ~ Barb Petricone (Twitter @mamakindness)

    Hello Barb,
I was introduced to you by one of your former students and colleagues who had spoken highly of you before we met. I am completely impressed by the Sequin of Kindness program. This represents the type of program material Dr. Phil could possibly appreciate and perhaps offer in his sphere of influence. It has timeless value, and lasting impact. Thank you for YOUR philanthropic endeavors. I nominate Barb Petricone for the Sequin of Kindness award! Society needs you!

    Hello Barb!
I would like for people to know what a blessing it has been to have you in our lives.
My husband & I met Barb during his chemo treatments. Her
welcoming smile and thoughtfulness were a great comfort during a very difficult time
I think we will be friends for life and we will always be so appreciative of her kindness and support.
The Sequin of Kindness is a wonderful thing and it is no surprise to me that Barb is reaching out to people and making a difference.
Her kindness and friendship are a reminder that there are
many very kind hearted people in the world and we are grateful to have met her.
    Thanks Barb!
    Midge
