As an artist and art educator, I’ve realized that art can have countless interpretations and a powerful impact, especially on the young. The students passed “sequins” to themselves with this project by being prideful of their unique characteristics.
The students researched a famous portrait painter, put together a keynote about their selected artist and presented it to the class. As a class, we discussed the meaning and history of the Self Portrait. We used an online program to alter their photos, posterized the image and added a tint. They based their painting off of the photo. Each student selected a background that would compliment their work and express who they are. All the students involve did a fantastic job!!
