Addiction Is Tough

I have a good friend that I’ve known for years who has been recently having a problem with  addiction and a separate but related illness.  One night he called me and reached out to me for help.  He tried kicking the addiction by himself and was in just so much pain.  I’ve never seen anybody in this state before.  So I helped him by giving him phone numbers to call and counselors to see and I totally opened myself up to him, making myself available to him 24 hours a day. Whenever he needed to talk or had the urge to do something stupid I would be there for him.  I call to check in on him every couple of days and I make the effort to go see him.  There are good nights and bad nights.  A few weeks after all this, I started an Herbology class here at the school.  Ive recommended teas to help him relax.  He’s been clean for over a month now.  His road to recovery is a long one, but I have the confidence in him that he can do it.
