My friend June is a person who lives much of her life in service of others. When you see her, she always has a glowing smile and a kind word. June is someone whom I have always admired. Being that we were involved in many of the same ministries our paths would cross on a fairly regular basis. Two weeks ago, a mutual friend shared with me that June was ill and suffering as a result. Although I did not know her well, I decided to call her to offer caring and words of encouragement…a small act in my view. But to June, it meant so much more. She shared that she had been isolating more and more and that hearing my voice on the other end of the phone meant so much to her. This has shown me that even seeming small acts of kindness that may seem inconsequential to the giver, may be a beacon of light to the recipient. And the blessings ripple on, as I now have the opportunity to form a deeper level of relationship with this beautiful woman.
