Northern Hospitality

I’m a South Carolina native who has recently made the move to New York.   Money has been a struggle but I’ve had generous people that have helped me along the way. Recently, I had a job interview and every article of clothing that I was wearing had been given to me.  An Aunt let me borrow a pair of shoes before I  left South Carolina and the skirt and blouse that I wore had been left out on a table at my place of residence (in NYC) for anyone who wanted them.   The clothes were all good quality and in my opinion quite valuable.  Someone could have easily decided to keep them or simply discard them but because they thought to share what they had, I had a nice outfit to wear on my interview.

I’ve been touched by so many good people during my life and since the decision to move to New York.  There is such a thing as “Northern Hospitality.”  I’ve learned that receiving “a sequin” is also part of an act of kindness.

About sequinofkindness
