In December of 2010, my cousin had been in a really bad car accident. The doctors were not sure if he was going to make it through the night. He was in the ICU for a long time. He also went to a rehab center and was there for almost a year.
His family was not well off. So our local fire department, which he was apart of started a charity fund, did fundraisers to help the family with transportation, the medical bills. We also figured out a schedule to bring the family meals. It was a long journey for him. He is now home after a year, still learning to do everything himself. It is amazing how much a community can come together to help a family in need.
